Extraction of Gallic Acid from Chromolaena sp. Using Ultrasound-assisted Extraction

Chromolaena sp. is believed to have phytochemical components namely alkaloids, flavonoids, flavone, essential oils, phenolics, saponins, tannins and terpenoids. In this study, ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) procedure was performed extract the gallic acid from UAE known be an environmentally green method. The experiment carried out with two different parameters which are sonication time duty cycle. Phytochemical screening, High performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) employed determine optimum condition for screening result showed presence of phenolic compound when dark-green colour solution observed. conditions were as follows: 80 minutes yield 3.0060 mg/mL cycle 10% 3.7641 mg/mL. FT-IR shows that O-H alkene group in sample. From result, it can concluded effective method implication study reducing production herbs medicine natural resource like plant.
